Career Background

Thomas was called in 2016 after completion of the BPTC at the University of Law, Birmingham.

Prior to pupillage, he gained valuable experience in Civil Litigation working for DWF Solicitors as an In-House Advocate. He has been instructed in a wide range of hearings from Applications, Small Claims and Fast Track trials to high value claims in (Costs) Case Management Hearings. These hearings stemmed a number of areas including Fraud and Personal Injury.


Practice Details

Crime: He has established a busy practice within the Magistrates Court both Prosecuting (Grade 1) and Defending.

Trials in the Magistrates Court have covered a range of offences and have involved dealing with vulnerable witnesses and clients alike. Moreover, he has received instructions to prosecute from the UK Border Agency, HMRC, West Midlands Police in addition to the CPS.

He has Crown Court experience of Appeals Against Conviction and Sentence, Bail Applications and Sentencing Hearings for a wide range of offences.

Common Law: By virtue of pre-pupillage employment, he has experience in dealing with a wide variety of civil cases and is fully competent to accept instructions in such matters.
