Career background

Worked in industry following graduation, then spent several years in local government, dealing with prosecution of planning and highways / transport matters, and public enquiries.

From the mid 1980’s until 2005, worked for the Crown Prosecution Service in London, Cheshire, and the Midlands, and was involved in the prosecution of a wide variety of criminal offences, from allegations of minor motoring offences to homicide. He appeared as an advocate in the Magistrates’ Court on a daily basis, developed particular expertise in technical road traffic offences, and prosecuted many cases involving allegations of driving with excess alcohol, fatal driving without due care and attention, tachograph, construction and use, and other road haulage related matters. Whilst employed by the CPS he frequently lectured on those topics.

Practice details

Instructed mainly by the defence, but also on occasion to prosecute, in the full range of criminal cases.

Julian is particularly handles allegations of road traffic offences and other matters involving the transport industry, and including Health and Safety prosecutions and cases brought by HM Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office.
