Miss Akhtar represented Mr T who was charged with rape and attempted rape. The prosecution said Mr T had met the complainant outside a pub and he noticed how drunk she was so lured her away from to an desolate area where he raped her. He then subjected her to further attack, pinned her to the ground and tried to rape her again.
There was CCTV evidence showing the complainant meeting Mr T outside the pub. Mr T handed himself to the police after a facebook appeal looking for the suspect. At trial, Mr T gave accepted he lied about certain things in his interview. After careful and thorough cross examination of the complainant, Mr T was acquitted within 30 minutes.
