Man Cleared of 10 Sexual Offences

  • News

A man accused of 10 counts of historic child sexual abuse has been unanimously acquitted by a Jury following a 4-day trial at Northampton Crown Court.

Jas Dhaliwal represented the man throughout proceedings and at trial, instructed by Duncan Lewis Solicitors.

The defence was charged with 10 counts of indecent assault and indecency with a child.

The Prosecution alleged the Defendant, when aged 14-16, had sexually abused a relative in the mid-1990s. It was alleged the abuse took place over 2 years period, at 4 properties, and at least 50 alleged incidents of abuse.

The Prosecution relied upon the evidence of the complainant and their parents and friends, all of whom were cross-examined by Jas.

The Defendant, who gave evidence, said he had not been present or alone with the Complainant at any time.

After approximately 3 hours of deliberations, the Jury unanimously acquitted the Defendant on each of the 10 counts.
