Sports Law

Here at Citadel we pride ourselves on being one of the leading sports law groups, with a highly qualified team of experts reputed for taking the time to understand the needs of their clients, and who provide determined and effective representation in order to achieve outstanding results.

As specialists in sports law we can offer a highly experienced barrister to suit any case. The barristers from the sports law team at Citadel deal with legal issues arising in all types of sport, including but not limited to football, boxing, rugby, motorsports and horse racing. Members of the team have advised and represented sports regulatory bodies, sporting charities, sponsors, clubs and individual participants. Whilst there are occasions when cases involving our clients attract national publicity, our professional duties and respect for client confidentiality dictate that we do not advertise using the names of former clients.

Our team of sports lawyers provide advice at every level of the sporting calendar, from full time professionals to concerned amateurs and at all intermediate levels. Our barristers are dedicated and motivated to achieve successful results for all our clients.

At Citadel we appreciate that those looking for sports related legal advice need experts who can deal with a wide variety of legal issues. This is why our team can advise on disciplinary matters, contractual disputes, media rights and beyond. The charges for services provided by members of our team are flexible, to suit the needs of individual cases, in the hope that legal advice and assistance is available to all.

Each barrister on the sports law team is accredited under the Bar Council’s  ‘Direct Access scheme’, so in the vast majority of cases we can give legal advice directly to our clients, without the need to incur additional solicitors fees. Our direct access clients simply speak to our experienced clerking team, agree an hourly rate and maximum number of hours required, then either a written advice is prepared or a conference is booked with the barrister of your choice.

Citadel is ranked as one of the leading sets in the Midlands for criminal work, and members of Chambers have represented sporting personalities charged with criminal offences, ranging from serious offences to road traffic matters.

We have extensive conference facilities, lecture facilities and video link capability. So whether you wish to meet us in the heart of Birmingham City Centre or using the video link, we can provide expert legal advice quickly and conveniently.
