Jas Dhaliwal has secured the acquittal of a woman 5 years out of time.
The Appellant, a former member of the military, was convicted 5 years ago in the Magistrates’ Court. The prosecution case was that she had refused to pay a taxi fare and abused the driver.
After years of psychological therapy, the appellant only recently felt able to apply to appeal the convictions. Northampton Crown Court granted permission to appeal out of time.
Following a full day’s hearing, involving multiple witnesses, the appeal was allowed and her convictions were quashed.
Jas also secured a defence costs order and a wasted costs order for £5,000 because of an adjourned hearing and non-compliance with court orders.
