Jamie Scott secured the convictions of four defendants involved in a counterfeit tobacco conspiracy after a three-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
All four defendants were Chinese immigrants with no right to work in the UK. They had converted a house in Perry Barr effectively into a factory where 100s of kilograms of counterfeit tobacco were processed and then distributed across the West Midlands. The tobacco was being sold onto retailers at rock bottom prices and had evaded a tax liability estimated at over £4,000,000.
The defendants will be sentenced at a later date.
