Both defendants, one of whom was an airport employee, were convicted of importing 40kg of heroin into the UK from Pakistan. The drugs were loaded into checked in baggage. The case involved close work with authorities in Pakistan, and legal arguments throughout the trial. The defendants were each sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.
