Following a 6-day prosecution at Warwick Crown Court, as part of Coventry Police’s Operation Grimlen, a 20-year-old-man was acquitted of possessing of a prohibited firearm.

The prosecution alleged that CM had been in possession of a sawn-off shotgun and had used a co-defendant to mind the weapon for him; the officers having located a shotgun cartridge in his car and downloaded alleged inculpatory messages from his phone.
The co-defendant pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm ahead of the trial and will be sentenced on the 13th of April 2026.
