For his role in the prosecution of ‘Operation Scorecard’, Nicholas was awarded a Commendation by the Chief Constable of Warwickshire Police, Alex Franklin-Smith.
The case concerned the investigation into an Organised Crime Group consisting of twenty-five conspirators who supplied multi-kilogram Class A and B controlled drugs that were couriered from Liverpool into and around Warwickshire, West Midlands, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire. The OCG possessed firearms to enforce their criminality and their benefit from the conspiracy ran into millions of pounds.
The case commenced in 2019 and is due to conclude later this year.
The citation of the Commendation read:
‘You are commended for the dedication, professionalism, and personal sacrifice displayed during one of the most complex investigations into organised crime undertaken by Warwickshire Police.
Your contribution to Operation Scorecard ensured that a dangerous organised crime group, with a national reach, was dismantled and its leading members received significant custodial sentences. With the organised crime group dismantled, its firearms and drugs seized, you have made Warwickshire a safer place, and should be proud of your achievement.’
