Jamie Scott has prosecuted a man for multiple charges relating to the promotion of racial hatred online.
Over the course of a year, the defendant had posted from multiple accounts on X racist and anti-Semitic memes, slurs and threats, intending to stir up racial hatred. He had been referred to the Prevent strategy four times in the previous decade to prevent his radicalisation by extreme rightwing ideology. The defendant’s prosecution was precipitated by his identification in an exposé BBC documentary about far right groups.
He was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment at Warwick Crown Court.
