Following a six-day jury trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Nicholas secured not guilty verdicts for his client on all charges of historic offences of child rape.
The client was alleged to have repeatedly raped his then 13-year-old female cousin in various locations in 2009. She provided numerous accounts of being raped to healthcare professionals as well as to the police.
Nicholas was able to discredit her allegations with the presentation of inconsistent complaints that she had given and that were recorded within medical documentation, along with the use of photographic scene imagery, obtained from 2009, to reveal for example that the description of a scene where an alleged rape occurred was false.
